Terms and conditions for biokinetics services and rehabilitation programmes
Last updated: 12/25/2025
Important Notice
By booking an appointment or participating in biokinetics treatment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
Explanation of Rehabilitation
You will be placed in a rehabilitation program that will include rehabilitative exercises specific to your needs. The levels of exercise will be based on your cardiovascular response to exercise testing and/or other orthopaedic related considerations. You will receive clear instructions regarding the type and amount of regular exercise and rehabilitation you should do.
Your Participation
Your permission to engage in the rehabilitation program is voluntary. You are free to deny any consent if you so desire, both now and at any stage during the program.
As with any physical activity, exercise may cause physiological changes in your body. While rare, these could include changes in blood pressure, dizziness, or irregular heartbeat. More serious complications are extremely uncommon, especially with proper supervision and gradual progression.
For your safety, we maintain emergency equipment and our staff are trained to handle any situation that may arise. Your wellbeing is our priority, and we'll work within your comfort zone.
To gain the expected benefits and promote your safety, you must give priority to regular attendance and adherence to the prescribed intensity, duration, frequency, progression and type of activity.
Guidelines for Your Safety and Success
To help you achieve the best results safely, we recommend:
- • Please share any symptoms or concerns with your Biokineticist openly
- • Rest when feeling unwell rather than exercising
- • Allow at least 2 hours after smoking before exercising
- • Avoid alcohol before exercise sessions
- • Use moderate water temperatures when showering after exercise
- • Let us know about any unusual symptoms you experience
- • Follow the exercise guidelines provided for your safety
Important reminders:
• If you have a chronic condition, please stay within your prescribed heart rate zone
• If you experience pain during exercises, pause and consult with your Biokineticist first
Payment Terms
- • The patient is responsible for the account
- • All accounts must be settled before month end
- • Payment method: EFT (preferred)
- • Medical aid claims can be submitted if applicable
Cancellation Policy
The practice reserves the right to charge the full price for appointments not cancelled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. If appointments are not changed 24 hours before the set appointment time, the session will not be caught up at a later stage.
- • All sessions are 45 minutes in duration
- • Please arrive on time for your appointment
- • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise
- • Bring any relevant medical reports or scans to your first appointment
- • 24-hour cancellation notice is required
The information obtained during exercise testing and exercise sessions will be regarded as private and confidential. It is not to be released or revealed to any person without your written consent, except for your referring physician.
We may discuss progress of your condition with your General Practitioner/Specialist/Health Care Professional with your consent.
Before starting treatment, you will be required to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) to assess your readiness for physical activity. This includes questions about:
- • Heart conditions
- • Chest pain during physical activity
- • Dizziness or loss of consciousness
- • Bone or joint problems
- • Current medications
- • Other health conditions
By participating in biokinetics treatment, you acknowledge that physical activity carries inherent risks, though we take every precaution to minimize them. With your consent, we may share your progress with your referring healthcare professional to ensure coordinated care.
You agree to participate voluntarily and understand that Tammy Reader Biokineticist follows professional standards and safety protocols to provide the best possible care.
